Catalogue note
Sand cast, with a rich dark brown patina warming to olive at the high points. The modelling of the drapery at the hip is very fine; the face is more summary and has been worked cold. Unsigned, and no foundry mark is present.

The patina is original and undisturbed, with the honest wear to the raised points one would expect. A small casting flaw at the reverse of the base, original to the founding. The marble socle is later and has a chip to the lower rear corner. Threaded rod through the socle is a later fitting.
