Catalogue note
The gores in good register, the varnish warmly toned. The cartouche has been abraded and the maker is no longer legible, which the department regards as a genuine loss of information rather than an invitation to speculate.

Two vertical splits to the gores at the southern hemisphere, one restored, one open. Varnish crazed overall and darkened. The brass meridian is loose in its collar and the horizon ring has an old repair at one joint. The stand is sound; one castor is a replacement.
